1st Thanksgiving

Lucas thoroughly enjoyed his 1st Thanksgiving. We were lucky enough to have the following family members in attendance for the special day: Bob, Peggy, Lou, Gayle, Walter, Jenny, Dustin, & Zoe. He impressed everyone was his scooting, flipping over, and sitting up with just a light pillow behind his back for support. During dinner he sat in a booster seat for the 1st time. He seemed happy & content in the seat. Lucas did not want to nap because he was having so much fun staring & playing with his family. Around 6pm, Lucas finally crashed and took a 3 hour nap. Such a fun & memorable day!

Big Strides

Over the last few weeks, Lucas has made some big developmental strides. Now Lucas responds to his name, has two bottom teeth, likes to flip from his stomach to his back, is close to fully sitting up on his own, has many new vocal noises, and really enjoys scooting. He’s at the early stages of crawling which means if we place our hands behind his feet then he has enough support to push off his back legs and then scoot forward. His favorite item to scoot towards is Skyler. Lucky for us, Skyler enjoys being close to his brother. Can’t wait to see what new strides tomorrow will bring!!!

The Perfect Nanny

We found an amazing nanny named Jackie! At the beginning of November, she relocated to Arizona from South Dakota for her husband’s job. She has over 30 years of child care experience. She has been a professor at a community college teaching child development classes. She even was a nanny in England for a year. We feel so blessed to have Jackie be Lucas’ nanny!

I know I am biased. But, I believe Lucas is the most adorable baby boy in the world.

6 Month Birthday!

Half a year has gone by in Lucas’ life. So many moments are unforgettable. His 1st cry, open air pee, drinking from a bottle, breastfeeding, arrival home, holding his head up, smile, laugh, hug, kiss, roll over, sit up, and so many more amazing moments! Literally every day he does something that we will never forget. Even though we have gone through many difficult moments, all that matters is Lucas is happy & for the most part healthy. The Lord blessed us with the most perfect baby boy…Lucas – You brought an abundance of joy into our lives. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you!!!

Nanny Search

The in home nanny search has begun! In fact, we started interviewing candidates today. We had many candidates apply to our ad on Care.com. However, a few of the candidates really outshined the competition. So, we were easily able to narrow down the final interview list to just a few. This is a big decision. We pray the Lord will help guide us to the nanny who will love Lucas as much as we do and be a perfect fit with our family! We want our nanny to become Lucas’ best friend. Praying she will be with us for many years to come.

I return to work at the end of November. I am so blessed to have an awesome position at Bank of America which allows me to work from home.

Here are some pictures from today’s impromptu photo session. Lucas & Skyler were both being extra cute. We love the last picture where Skyler steals a kiss!

Increased Fluid Intake

We are seeing a significant increase in Lucas’ daily intake of formula. Before the most recent dilation on last Friday, Lucas was averaging 725 – 800 mls of formula a day. Fast forward to yesterday when Lucas drank 1,000 mls over a 24 hour period!!! I was so excited about the big accomplishment that I woke up Bryan after the feed which was around midnight to share the great news. Bryan was so happy to hear the good news!

1st Halloween

Here are some pictures of our adorable baby alligator! Lucas didn’t care much for the outfit. He basically froze in place and didn’t understand why we were tormenting him. So funny.

Dilation Success

Another successful dilation! Lucas’ esophagus was stretched from 8mm to 9mm. The extra special news is that Lucas had no issues this time around. So we got to go home rather than being forced to stay the night. It feels amazing to care for Lucas from the comforts of our own home.

The doctors and nurses were all amazed that Lucas was so happy and full of smiles even though he couldn’t have any formula for the last 4 hours before surgery. I love our happy boy!

Dilation Today

We’re on our way to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for Lucas’ next dilation which is at 2pm. Even though this is our 3rd dilation, it hasn’t become any easier on us. We still get nervous and scared. The only way to get through this day is to give up all of our fear to the Lord. Only he can give us the strength we need to stay focused and unafraid.

Last night, I became a bit sad when it dawned on me that I have a saved document which is titled Hospital Packing List for Lucas. No child should need such a list.
