The procedure itself went better than anticipated… more about that later. Unfortunately, Lucas came out of anesthesia very poorly and the doctors were not able to get his breathing under control. He was transferred to the ICU but things remained dangerous. The issue was that the stint placed in his esophagus was causing too much stress on his already fragile and soft airway (Lucas has tracheomalacia).
Within a few hours, the team made the decision to take Lucas back to the operating room for a second time. They moved the position of the stint downward to alleviate the pressure on his airway. He is now out of the OR again and we are back in the ICU waiting room – waiting and wanting to go see him again.
My love, thoughts, prayers, and patience are being sent your way. LOVE TO YOU ALL!
Omgosh we are praying for Lucca and for you both. He is such a strong little boy I know it !
